Day 16

Rhys is having a better day than yesterday. He is no longer on 100% oxygen, and is weaned down to 65%. The lasix treatments for the fluid on his lungs has worked well, if not too well. His x-ray showed his lungs have cleared up more than the past couple of days, but the drawback is now he is dehydrated and not peeing. The doctors are giving him some saline solution to try and rehydrate him so he will start peeing again. The doctors continue to paralyze him so he won't fight the oscillator. If we can just get him stable enough to get off the oscillator and back on the regular ventilator they can address his PDA. Once his PDA closes we are told we could/should see marked improvement in is respiratory system, and less strain on his heart. Poor little guy has something attached to every limb of his body now, even if he could move he would probably have a hard time doing so! Let's continue to pray for his brain bleed to subside, and for his lungs to get better and for him to get off the oscillator so the doctors can close the PDA.

Any improvement for Baby Rhys is a blessing right now. Stay strong. Everything is going to be alright. I'm so glad to see all the posts on here and to know Rhys has so many people in his corner backing him up. We are still praying for all of you. I hope you are healing well too. I know c-sections are rough. Love you all.

Good to hear that sweet baby Rhys is doing some better. Baby steps are great. I pray for rehydration and for his lungs to stabilize so he can go back on the conventional. Stay strong, you guys are such an amazing couple of faith. We look up to you both. We love you and are right down the street!
Hugs,

Baby steps work! Keep jumping those hurdles, Rhys. He looks like he is getting bigger from the pic you posted yesterday. Candice and Cody, hang in there. All three of you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Hey Guys!
It's Kim Chomenko-Schwartz, Amy's friend. I wanted to first congratulate you on the birth of Baby Rhys, he's truly a beautiful blessing. I love reading your daily blog and getting the Rhys updates. I know the days are long for you all right now but just think before to long Rhys will be at home with his mommy and daddy! What a wonderful day that will be. Love to you both and I will keep praying for that precious son of yours!

We are so glad Rhys is off 100% oxygen... my daughter was born 2/27 weighing in less then 2 pounds and I empathize 100%. Hang in there, try and enjoy the time with Rhys and take it one day at a time. Reach out if you want to chat, ask about our experiences etc.

We continue to stand with you in prayer claiming God's promises of complete healing over Rhys. God is in the miracle business-He is the great statistic breaker.
God is in control so continue to seek Him for everything-He has plans to prosper you and Rhys.

Praying for peace and strength for the whole family.
Blessings,
Kathy Kolkhorst
